I've been wanting to do a pin-up of Phantom with her tattoo machine for a while now, and I finally got around to actually doing it!
"LTP" stands for "Love the Profession," and is something that many tattoo artists have tattooed somewhere on their bodies. Phantom does not yet have "LTP" on her body, but perhaps she will in the future. She still has plenty of room.
Phantom being a tattoo artist was one of the first things I decided about her, if not the
first thing. I knew I wanted to make a new Killjoy, potentially one with a twin, and that they would be a tattoo artist. I wanted her to have this profession because there are so many Killjoys with tattoos, I had to stop and think, where the hell are they getting these tattoos from?
While it was something I had decided early on about her, it does sometimes get overlooked when I'm drawing her or writing something about her in favor of other things. So, I wanted to take an opportunity to focus on it.
Tattooing and drawing are one of the few things that consistently bring Phantom joy. She feels beautiful when she adds a new piece to her own collection and loves listening to stories behind the ones she adds to someone else's (especially since she likes to meddle). She started when she was fourteen.
I was going to put her in her tattoo studio, but I think this new background loosely based on Sailor Jerry tattoo flash actually worked out a lot better. It was definitely more fun for me.
Her tattoo gun was a real challenge. I've gotten tattoos before but it would be a lie to say I really understand how they work, plus there's so many different kinds that I found pictures of. I sort of combined a few references and hoped for the best.
Oh, and the boots she usually wears have a shorter, thicker heel so they're a bit more practical, lol.
