Uploading these real quick before we head for California!
Ever since I started modding these dolls I wanted to make one of my Killjoy OC, Captain Phantom. I knew Spectra Vondergeist had the PERFECT face mold for her (the cheekbones!) but until recently she was very difficult to track down.
Last week, though, I found another Spectra at Target and decided to snatch her up and finally make Phantom.
I ran out of air for my airbrush so I had to paint her skin tone on with a regular brush and acrylic paint, I think it came out pretty evenly, all things considered. Her face/tattoos were done with pastel, acrylic paint and colored pencil. Her scars were done with Liquitex heavy gel gloss medium and a toothpick. I re-rooted her hair and gave her a boil perm that turned out to be far more curly than I anticipated and her flower is an earring because I haven't figured out how to attach her white sculpey rose I made her yet.
I made her jacket out of some scrap my counselor gave me and an old pink shirt my sister had started cutting up anyway. The buttons are from one of my mom's old barbie coats that she said I could have. Her tights are a pair of nylon socks that were cut up, sewn back together and painted. She's borrowing her shoes from I Love Fashion Abbey Bominable. Having a sewing machine makes thing so much easier, I'm gonna miss it when I go back to school.
I bought a Moxie Boys Pirate doll for parts and stole her eyepatch from him. I painted on the heart with acrylic. Her belt buckle is an earring that I don't plan on wearing anymore.
I'm really happy with how she came out. I made Cutlass, too, but his outfit needs a lot more tweaking before he's done. I also did a lot of experimenting with him and didn't use Mr. Superclear (which is like MAGIC) so I would really prefer to redo some of him.
